Windows XP Desktop - the deskop is the main screen where your Desktop Icons (red highlight), background image, Start bar (brown highlight), and notification area (green highlight) are housed. You can customize how your desktop looks by creating a theme or just changing the background image which can be done via the Display Properties dialog. You can also create a custom Desktop Toolbar
