Default XP on NT4 Domain

I have 2 issues that I would appreciate any help on

1. when an NT4 roaming profile has logged onto an XP
workstation it receives a "Windows Storage Password"
prompt when opening the internet on an NT4 workstation.
KB article on Autocomplete doesn't fix it.

2. I run several reg files on users logon scripts, HKCU
files run ok on NT4 but cannot import on XP.

Many thanks in anticipation

Default RE: XP on NT4 Domain

Hello,

I understand that when Internet explorer is opened in NT Workstation, the
Windows storage error appears.

Issue 1:

When browsing the Internet the following error occurs. "Protected storage
uses your windows password to protect your personal data. Protective
storage has detected data created with a previous version. To continue to
use this data enter your windows password below."

Resolution:

Delete the SID subkey of the following registry entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall Windows. Microsoft cannot guarantee that
problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.
Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Issue 2:

You are unable to import the .reg files on Windows XP.

Resolution:

Please find the steps on how to import .reg files in Windows XP also the
differences between regedit.exe and regedt32.exe

HOW TO: Add, Modify, or Delete Registry Subkeys and Values by Using a
Registration Entries (.reg) File

Hope it answers your questions.

Thank you,

Rashmi
