Default XP, netgear, and road runner

setup: 2 computers, both running XP. Connected to a
netgear router (pr614) via cat5.
I've got the cable modem plugged into the router, then
each computer plugged into the router.

Everything will work fine for a couple days, then one of
the computers will lose its connection to the internet.
No email, no web, can't ping google, nothing.
Resetting the router usually restores the connection,
which is a quick fix, but it's a pain in the @$$ to have
to do every couple of days.
I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and
if perhaps there is something I've overlooked and failed
to configure in XP.
The Road Runner techs are earnest, and try very hard to
help but have been unable to provide a long-term
solution. :P

Any suggestions?

I've always used this site to trouble shoot my networking. I'm pretty
sure you'll find an answer. http://www.wown.com/ I used to have the
same setup you now have but moved to wi-fi. Much better.
Good luck.
