XP Mapped drives not connecting at logon

My W2K server workgroup network consists of XP,W2K, NT and W98 workstations. My XP workstation's mapped drives are not available when the user first logs in. Clicking on each mapped drive prompts them to become available. Why don't the mapped drives connect at login? I would be very grateful for a solution.
