Default XP Home Firewall and VPN

I have an XP Home system with a firewall protected network connection. I am
trying to get to shared files using a VPN connection. The server incoming
connection and client VPN connection seem to be set up, and I can make the
VPN connection, but I can not get to the shared folder. I have tried using
both a network places connection (that works with the firewall turned off)
and the server name in the run box.
Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.
