XP is terminating my wireless connection. Does anyone
know why?
I have an existing wireless/wired network using WaveLAN
Gold cards and an Access Point that's been working for
about 4 years on Win 98.
In one of my Win98 machines, I removed the old hard drive
and installed a new copy of XP on a brand new hard drive,
no other software on it yet.
During installation, XP found the WaveLAN card and
installed drivers no problem. I setup the properties for
the network and it immediately connected no problem.
However, after approximately 1 minute the connection
terminates with no apparent reason. If I select the
network properties and press "OK" in the properties
dialog, the connection is established and works perfectly
for 1 minute again then terminates.
I've exhausted all possible solutions:
* Enabled/disabled firewall.
* Enabled/Disabled WEP encription.
* Enabled/disabled 802.11
* Tried all possible variations of network adapter and
protocol properties
It's clear XP is terminating the connection. I have no
idea why. All the other wireless machines (all Win98)
work fine.
I've spent 2 hours so far with a Microsoft customer
service rep with no success.
Does XP simply not work with an Orinoco WaveLAN
network??? Can I buy a DLink of LinkSys that will be
compatible with my netowrk that XP will allow?
