I have a laptop that is stuck with the dhcp client service "starting". I
cannot stop, or start dhcp. All network adapters (wired, wireless, and VMware
adapters) are stuck acquiring ip address. Assigning static ip address works.
In the event logs I found the following error:
Event ID : 1004
The DHCP Client Service is shutting down. The following error occurred: The
system cannot find the file specified.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?
