i been breaking my head over this. What type of modem does Windows XP Pro.
Fax Services require in order for Fax Console to recognize and fill in the
"Caller ID" field?
1. i have tried 3 different modems (generic, generic, robotics)
2. all three different modems recognize the caller id when using AT+VCID=1
string, via HyperTerminal
3. in modem Control Panel, the string AT+VCID=1 is typed in the Advanced tab
"Extra initialization commands"
but, yet Fax Console will not display the caller id.
Any guidance or ideas are much greatly appriciated.

I seem to remember that when XP first came out, several modem
manufacturers stated that the Caller ID functionality will no longer
work. Therefore, I would imagine that you may need to locate some
other advanced faxing system that will let Caller ID info in. XP's
Fax console is very limited.
