Default winxp home network problem

I have all 4 computers through a linksys router.
All 4 had manually installed IP's etc.
They all have the same Workgroup name in upper case.
They all have TCP/IP identically installed (with different addresses of
course)

In Network Places each computer lists different combinations.
Some won't even list themselves.
Some will list 'Unknown'.

And they are all very slow accessing and returning.
All can access the internet and do it very quickly.
We have cable and very fast connection.
It's just the in LAN connections that seem slow.

Please and thank you

Can you ping the other computers by IP
Can you ping the other computers by Name
Try turning off any firewall software including XP's built in software (as a
test)

No I can not ping any of the other computers.
I have firewalls turned off in TCP/IP and have ZA turned off.

If I select show workgroups then I see each computers name.

I forgot to say.
When doing the Network Wizard, I sometimes get a message saying it could not
complete due to an error.
It says to reboot which brings up the same situation.
