Disable the firewall. It's designed for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. If you enable it on a local area network
connection to other computers, it blocks file and printer sharing.
The firewall in the upcoming Windows XP Service Pack 2 can be
configured to allow file and printer sharing on a local area network.
