Default Windows XP pro and web folder path misbehaviour...

I'm not sure which group would be the most applicable so I'll start
here...

I am having difficulties with webfolders and Windows XP. When I add a
webfolder
to our Intranet site in my network places, the folder adds with the
the UNC address (\\intranet\departments\sales)
rather than the URL (http://intranet/departments/sales). Users can
open the folder and browse, but not edit the contents.
However if I deliberately misspell the name of the last level folder
(http://intranet/departments/sale when last folder
should be sales) then a network place adds with a URL targetting the
parent folder (eg. http://intranet/departments)
The user can then navigate to, and edit items in the lower level
folder.

Any ideas how I can add a network place and have it add as a URL?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts....

Diane
