Default windows vpn client disconnects

I have a computer which connects to my network using windows vpn client. my
network is running RRAS on windows server 2003.
the connection is good until about two minutes when it mysteriously
disconnects.
I dont think is a problem with the server because other clients are
connected for exteneded periods of time.
tried on the client:
disabled windows firewall.
disabled norton 2007 AV
disabled some anti-spyware program.

need help to figure out what else might be causing this.
