My fathers computer has Windows XP Home installed on it
which came with the computer from new in 2002.
He has just connected to the Internet but after about 5
minutes a window comes up & says Windows NT is shutting
the computer down & says the Remote Proceedure Call (RPC)
has caused this. When this window pops up it starts to
count down from 60 seconds. When it has finished it
restarts the computer.
It originally had the Blaster Worm virus on it but I
downloaded a fix but still had problems.
I formatted the hardrive & started again & I have put
Service Pack 1 on & have put on virus software after
formatting the computer & starting again.
Any suggestions?
This happened to me as well. It looks like this another
virus has infected your machine the name escapes me right
now. What type of AV software are you using? Do you
regular update it. Try using the newest version of Norton
Anti-virus. This seems to do the trick. Now as for the
problem of it popping up when you reboot. Try creating
another administrator account in windows. Log in with
that user account and then install and run your virus
program. That should do the trick because the virus is
probably in your father's profile.
Good luck
