Default Windows Explorer

When I open Windows Explorer , My Network Places. Windows XP provides me with a list of folders which i access frequently. This is very usefull but the folders take upto 20 seconds to open once selected. If i try to open the same folder on a mapped drive it opens in 1-2 seconds. Any idea's what the problem is ??

Regards

Chris

Default RE: Windows Explorer

This is normal. When a drive is mapped it loads certain network path info into the local machine which it remembers when you click on it. When you have to search the network the local machine has to reassablish a new connection with the shared drive, check to see if you have rights to use the resources and so on.
