My desktop suddenly stopped connecting to the net via a
wired router. The message reads, "cannot find server."
When I switch the ethernet cable to my laptop, it
connects. I have checked the settings in both systems and
they are identical, xp pro(problem) and xp home(ok). Both
are set to automatically detect settings. I put a new
ehternet card in the desktop, nothing. I even tried
static settings in the desktop, nothing, same message.
There is no xp firewall running, only zonealarm on both
and I've unchecked power management.
Is there anyone out there that can help with this?
ipconfig /renew at the command line in the desktop?

Jimie Boy, if i did this correctly at the command prompt,
c:\documents and settings, it comes back as 'ipconfig is
not recognized as an internal or external command,
operablr program or batch file.
