Default uPNP killed my external internet access to my XP machines

I have 4 machines serving the external web on different
ports via a Linksys router. Since the 2 XP Pro machines
were updated with XP's uPNP support, I can't access them
from the external web.. even if I "disable" the uPNP. The
IT guy at work thought he heard this was an XP problem,
but, didn't know the remedy. Anyone know??
