Default Standard 28800bps modem driver configuration

Hello, I currently use this driver with a Satellite modem
to connect to an ISP. Since the Setup time to this ISP is
very long, often the call is disconnected because the
Connection timeout expires. I noticed that all Standard
modem drivers have this option disabled (greyed out):
Control Panel
Phone and modem options
Properties (for the Standard modem driver)
Advanced
Change Default Preferences
Cancel the call if not connected within (this option is
not configurable for this driver)
How can I solve this? Is there a workaround?
Thanks
Fausto
