I'm trying to set up a VPN through my wireless router
(Netgear MR814v2) but when I try "Allow Incoming
Connections" in the new connection wizard, I get the
error: "Incoming Connections depend on the Routing and
Remote Access service which was unable to start. For more
information, check the system event log."
Which I did:
The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with
service-specific error 3604 (0xE14).
I swear, it worked not but just a few days ago. I have the
three services it depends on started just fine (Telephony,
Remote Access Connection Manager and Remote Access Auto
Connection Manager).
Searched on Google and Microsoft for a few hours and found
nothing. Tried some diagnostic commands:
sc query remoteaccess
SERVICE_NAME: remoteaccess
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE : 1 STOPPED
Same error code, 3604. Apparently Microsoft doesn't have a
list of the codes and what they mean for each service, or
have hidden it well enough to where I am unable to find
it. I recently installed SP1, which is probably to blame.
After several tries to get it working I installed the SP2
beta, which didn't help. I'm hoping I don't have to
reinstall everything, because I just built this computer
and this install is barely two weeks old.
I would appreciate it very much if anyone could tell me
what was going on... thanks.
