Refreshing Shared Folders in Network Places

I'm on a small workrgroup with users coming and going. My Network Places will show me all the shared folders that have ever been shown on the network but it doesn't seem to update, therefore many of these shared resource are no longer there.
What do I need to do to properly refresh or update My Network places
