Default Question

Hello everybody,

I've noticed that in windows xp ( I don't know anything about other windows versions) a 20% of the total bandwith available in my internet connection is reserved by microsoft . Is it true? And if it is true, which are the purposes of this bandwith reservation? do you know what kind of information is pretended to obtain with this? is for making improvements? making easier to update the operating system?...

Thanks in advance.
