problems connecting p2p programs

I have a brand new computer that I just set up an
internet connection. I have no problem connecting to web
pages, but whenever I try to connect to winmx, kazaa,
norton Antivirus update, etc. no connection gets
established. Turning off my firewall does not fix this
either. Other computers in my house work fine, just not
mine. Can someone please help me
