Trying to set up a simple home work with the following parts:
Computer one, Windows XP Pro, with 2 network cards, one for a Blueyonder
cable modem, the other one for the
home network.
Computer two, Windows XP Pro, with one network card for the home network.
This computer connects to the internet via computer one.
A simple ethernet cable, connecting the 2 network cards for the home
network.
Have set the network up with the normal Windows wizards.
Computer two can acces the internet fine, but so far I have been unable to
let computer one see computer two or vice-versa. I have disabled and
un-installed ZoneAlarm that was on computer one, but made no difference.
Also diabled the
Windows XP firewall.
I am a complete novice to networks and would value any advice how to fix
this.
These are the result of the tests I have run so far:
Computer 1 with Cable modem

It sounds like you are trying to connect the two computers with the 1
Ethernet cable, if you are doing that without a hub or switch, you will need
a cross-over cable (http://www.makeitsimple.com/how-to/dyi_crossover.htm) .

Thanks for the quick reply, but I do have the right cable.
It is labelled as crossed and the man in the shop told me it should
be fine to connect 2 cards directly.
