I've been trying to successfully share my lexmark x73, attached to my WinXP machine, with my Win98SE. The computers are connected through a Linksys cable router, and I'm currently using NetBeui as my networking protocol. I tried using TCP/IP for networking but that provided a slow connection and the print sharing wasn't working either.
I have everything shared in the permissions, have the guest account enabled, and to install the printer on the 98 machine I went through the Add Printer option, using the networked printer option. Whenever I try to print, it tells me that a connection with the printer cannot be made. File sharing is working perfect.
Any help?

Contact Lexmark tech.support. Lexmark does not support cross-platform
(e.g., XP-W9x) printing for all of its printers.
And, there may be a work-around for that printer. For my Z53 (connected
to a W9x PC), I got it to print from my XP PCs by claiming that it was
a Z52 instead of a Z53.
Guess what vendor will not be the maker of my next printer?
