Default Ping command failure

Here is the scenario. Anytime I am away from my computer
(idle)for more than an hour, when I return the server I
was able to connect to etc.,. I am unable to connect
anymore. I cannot ping the server name/ip. After a couple
of hours all of the sudden it works again. It is only one
server I am unable to connect to. The network people say
that I am getting response to and from the server(via a
sniffer during when it is not working). My pc goes
through the same hops and it connects to the server ok.
It's just my laptop. Anyone know what this issue could
be. It has happened twice; once yesterday and today.
Thanks again for your help. We're stumped on this one.

Try to disable the power management on your laptop's
network adapter....
Disable "allow windows to stop the adapter to save power"

Silly things like bad whips can do this. Make sure no
