Default Permissions

Two computers, one using WinXP home and the other using Win98Se with a
NETBEUI
connection.
I used to be able to read, write, delete and rename on the 98 from the XP.
I reinstalled all the drivers on the 98 and now i can only read from it.
If i try to write, rename or delete on the 98 from the XP i get the
message -

Error Copying File or Folder.
Cannot create or replace xxxx: Network access is denied.
Be sure you have the correct network permissions to perform this operation.

I can still read, write, rename and delete on the XP from the 98.

When i originally set up this network i didn't arrange any permissions,
i just installed the hardware and the protocols and it worked.

Could some kind soul tell me how to clear this apparent need for permission?

File & print sharing, then share out your C:\ drive.
