Default Outlook Ex. Newsgroup did a clean Install Help!

OE mail setting up "add newsgroup" (microsoft) and it wiped out my husband's
file (mail) of "deleted items." He was storing stuff there because it was easy.
Trying to find his stuff gave no results, restore point not successful..
anyone have any idea? Paula in trouble in Stockton
