Default Offline files lose connection to Server

The Offline Files icon keeps popping up and saying that
the computer has lost connection to the server. If you
click Synchronize, it reconnects. This is annoyance for
my client, as he has a few applications that access his
server folders. When it loses connection, his
applications no longer work until he resynchronizes. Is
there a space limit for this feature?

The system is connected via network cable, and Internet
connectivity doesn't suffer, so the switch is not the
culprit.

Any information would be great!

Let me know if you need more information.
