Default no networking available on 1st login

If I reboot my computer and login to Windows XP as soon
as the logon screen comes up, I have no network
capability. If I logoff and then log back on, it works
just fine. Any ideas?

I mean I can access the Internet, my LAN connection works
and I get the 2 computer screens in the right bottom
corner of the screen.
