No ICS, only File Share possible

My desktop and laptop are connected by a cross-over ethernet
cable. Both computers have Win XP-Pro. They worked fine
sharing Internet Connection and files until I installed
ZoneAlarm on the laptop. The desktop already had ZoneAlarm.
After I installed ZA on the laptop the file sharing
continued but ICS was not possible. I uninstalled ZA from
the laptop but it made no difference. Can someone please
help?
