Default no connection but all looks good

Problem: I have a computer that can not get any sort of
network connection. Lights on the switch and nick showing
green. the connection is showing up as connected. But no
LAN use and no internet. No packet trafic at all, stays
at 0 and 0 for sent and rec. Cable tested fine and swaped
ports around on switch. Only thing I can think of is my
corruption problems are causeing this. Was haveing some
file corruption issues with this computer but had
formated and all seemed fine for about a month. Now this
is happening. Also the computers screen saver now
displays "This Screen Saver has been corrupted. Contact
vendor" leading me to worrie about the corruption issues
I use to have with it. Any ideas?

is a "local area connection" showing up in network places
properties? If so, is it configured for a static
address/dhcp, is it obtaining an address? Are the drivers
for the NIC correctly installed?

properties? If so, is it configured for a static

I have a connection showing up but it isn't set for
static, its geting addys from my router, the NIC is a
board card so its drivers have been installed and are up
todate, only thing I can think of other than a corrupt
file system is maybe there is some thing wrong with my on
board nic.

If you're having troubles with your NIC, then typically,
you will have an "Automatic IP Address" instead of an
address that is "Assigned by DHCP".

Have you tried uninstalling your NIC from the Device
Manager? Try doing that and then rebooting your computer.
When Windows loads, it will detect the NIC and
automatically install the drivers for it.

Hope this helps,

Nick
