Default Networking an xp machine with a windows 98 second edition machine probs

My xp machine sees my 98 machine shared drives, but my 98 machine keeps asking for a password when I try to grab a file from the xp machine. I have no clue how this is working. All drives are shred and I did not ask to have a passowd protect on any machine since a home network.
Any clues?? Thank you
David

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP machine to fully enable file
