Default Networking Problem

I have two computers and I want to swap files between them. I have a Netgear DS104 Hub, with the uplink button pushed in, connected to my cable modem. I then have a cable runing from two of the ports in the hub, one to each computer.

Security isnt an issue since as soon as I swap the files I will no longer have need for my network.

I have ran the Networking setup wizard several times, choosing the "Other" and "Directly connected to the hub" settings. I used two different names for my computers, and have the same workgroup name.

Computer A Has Xp Home, Computer B has XP Prof
They both have the same subnet, but different residential gatway and ip addresses.

I can ping the ip addresses of each computer from one another, but I cannot see the other computer under my network. (From either computer).

I have a folder shared on each.

I am at a loss, please help.
