Default Networking issues

We have three Win XP computers in our network and they
all work well, but two of them cannot be accessed by
other machines. Both of these have the 'access this
computer from the network' user rights assignments
blanked out and we cannot add groups such as
Administrators etc that are supposed to be installed by
default. When we try to add groups manually, we get the
message that there is an error in writing to the
database. Any ideas?
