Default network sharing

I have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop running xp home and I have 3 other pcs on xp home on a linksys wired router.
I can ping by name and by ip address. The laptop can access all pcs and view files on them. But the other 3 pcs can't
access the laptop. They can see the name but can't access. All are not firewalled and the laptop has folders being shared.

by the way 2 weeks ago all was fine. But there was a problem pinging. The network did work while pinging was not right. Which leads me to believe that something i downloaded changed something and now is blocking access. Also I have a program called 3m post-it notes (office). and 2 weeks ago it wouldn't work. Thats when networking was fine. I went on vacation and came back and plugged my laptop in. Thats when my problem started. I reset the router and the dsl modem. Also I uninstalled norton internet security. And that fixed the post-it problem but not the networking one. I've tried a few things concerning the registry and ad and spyware.

another thought after tcp/ip version 6 was installed it caused a yellow flag (that will be my next project) in device manager when i uninstall it the flag goes away. Could that have caused my problem by leaving something there to block access.

Rascan,

Were you able to figure out why you are unable to access the files? I am having similar issues. I am able to see the folders on both computers however when I try and access the files, nothing happens.
