Default network setup using home PNA

my new Dell is connected through a home PNA connection to my wifes new Dell PC across the house. It is a SBC/DSL connection using a 2-wire Homeportal router (at her end), the phone lines and a 2-Wire PC-Port D-link DHN 520 10 Mh HPN adapter connected to a SBC port on my PC. The DSL works. I tried to set up a local network for sharing files/printers using WinXP Pro which is on both PCs.Worked OK on her PC. On my PC network setup Wiz says the HPN adapter is disconnected. In device manager adapter shows enabled and working properly--no conflict. Workgroup name same on both PCs Help please
