I'm stumped. Even after researching this on the web, I still can't get it to
work.
If, from my XP Pro box, I try to:
"net use x: \\xpcomputername\c$ /user:administrator" and then provide the
correct password at the prompt, I get "System error 5 has occurred. Access
is denied."
(Yes, Local Security Policy is already changed to "Sharing and Security
Model for local accounts" = "Classic - Local users authenticate as
themselves" and Simple File Sharing is turned off.)
BUT, if instead, I do:
"net use \\xpcomputername\ipc$ password /user:administrator"
and then do: "net use x: \\xpcomputername\c$ /user:administrator", it works
just fine.
That means that I can authenticate and the share is accessible. What I am
missing here?!? Why does it not work all in one net use command but does
work when broken down into two separate commands? Please help.
