Default Mapped drive is disconnected when pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc

I have a drive mapped to a server share. I have discovered that the mapped drive gets disconnected each time I press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to activate the Task Manager. Why is that and what can be done to prevent it?
