Default many postings - no solutions

I have read dozens of postings on sharing problems but have been
unable to figure out how to remedy my problem. I have an XP machine
networked to an NT machine through a router and everything works OK
including sharing both ways EXCEPT that the XP machine cannot see the
D: drive. I have tried everything I can find that might have an
impact but so far no luck. I hope someone can solve this seemingly
simple problem. Thanks in advance.

Check this out: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/148
Additionally, you may have set the option in group policy editor
(gpedit.msc) to show no drives.

We need a better description of the problem. Do you mean that you cannot
see the share when you browse to \\servername or that you cannot access the
share when you click on it? Can you connect to \\servername\D$ ? What
about \\servername\D ? Or did you share the D: drive with a different name?
