Login Script (batch file)

I'm looking for a way to force a backup on a Windows XP
Pro Laptop only when it is connected to the server. I
want it to backup to a network share using NTBackup. The
script will have to check for the connection to the share
before it launches the backup job. I was thinking of doing
a login script-type batch file and placing it in the
startup folder. Any help with the commands and switches
needed to make this possible would be appreciated.

If you can write the script (could be a dos batch file) then you should load it using MMC.

Why don't you just purchase a copy of Retrospect backup. it's not that expensive and it can back up your computer to a network share and it can be scheduled to go off when you want it to. So much less hassel and works better than NTBackup.

My client has 19 laptops and doesn't want to buy any
additional software, but wants the laptops backed up
automatically whenever the users come into the office. I
think I have the batch file so that it will to work, it
just won't be pretty!
