Default local ethernet w/ usb adapter

I have a desktop with XP Pro networked to a laptop with
XP home, both are connected to a linksys router that
connects to the internet. The internet connection works
as expected, but when I transfer files between computers,
the transfer rate is around 2.2 M bits/s, even though
when I look at the status of the connection on both ends,
it shows the speed is 100 Mbits/s.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks,

Default RE: local ethernet w/ usb adapter

May I ask how you set up your network to share files? I have installed a linksys router as well. I have internet connectivity on both computers but have not been successful sharing files.
