The lan cards I have installed are setup correctly and have worked in my other computer in the past. Device Manager shows them both and indicates they are working properly. The system refuses to use them. Networks indicates the cable is not connected which is not the case.(two seperate cables used that work on other system) Using 'Run' 'cmd' 'ipconfig' 'renew all' . A message along the line that the is not setup to use this device . (not the exact wording but along those lines. I suspect it has something to do with a setting in the Windows XP Pro set up but have no clue what it would be. Any help greatly appreciated!

Ok then open properties of the netcard, Advanced tab.
Is there setting for the media type (10/100 etc)?
Change it from "auto" to exact type of your hub (10/100, full/half duplex etc).
