We recently got a new router for the office (a wireless Netgear fvg318) to
replace our wired only linksys. After we set everything up though we hit a
brick wall. $ of our seven (wired and wireless) computers couple connect. I
tranced the problem to the 4 not updating the default gateway to the new IP
but when using the command line to do ipconfig/release ipconfig/refresh, and
evne after rebooting and reseting the router and modem it doesn't work.
When i use IP config i get a error "there is no adapter for that operation"
i know that the problem is the 4 not conection to the right defautl gateway
but i cant figure out how to get them to release. They are 3 XP Pros and our
network intranet server a Microsoft Server 2003. While the 3 that CAN connect
are a XP Home, Vista, and Mac osx tiger
Re: ipconfig there is no adapter for that operation
Hi
You have to check carefully the Settings of the gateway IP in the computers
that refuse to work.
In many cases when it is involved a real server (Windows2003) some
installers might configure the Gateway in away that would provide Internet
through the Router but other support through the server.
If your original system was installed by some one out of the office you
should call and find what they did.

Re: ipconfig there is no adapter for that operation
This is what i know our DSL modem is in bridge mode so it cany only connect
online via the router. Their are 6 computers hard wired into our router (and
when wirless is working on the new router a wireless connection) using the
link sys we have no wifi but 6 working harlines
when i switch up i have 2 hardlines that update the gateway and one wifi
connection, the other 4 hardlines done release and refresh. And when i use
ipconfig i get the afor mentioned error

Re: ipconfig there is no adapter for that operation
i found the problem, the four problem computers had the ip address set
manually, by changing it to get dynamically they got back online with the new
router.
