I believe some virus infected my computer and my port 3
lucent modem is not enabled. I tried to figure this out
but cannot get it up and running. Thanks!
Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
First, check in device manager to make sure it's showing up there. Is it?

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
yes, it is showing it, and AOL detects it, hwoever once
the dialing process is complete it boots me off and tries
to redial. The modem is not showing as enabled. THanks!

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
Leaving AOL issues aside....can you use it for a regular PPP connection if
you have that as an option? Does it show up in your network connections?
Try setting up a new Internet connection (even a bogus one) in there to use
the modem...
Do you know for sure you had a virus? If so, what was it, and how did you
clean it? Run good antivirus software & keep it updated?

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
I don't think it's showing up in my network connections.
I don't know where to begin!

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
Open your network connections. Try to make a new one using your modem.
You didn't answer my virus question...?

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
I'm not sure about a virus, the only th8ing I know is I
was online, then got off, now can't get back online. I
read in a pc magazine where certain viruses, if you try to
remove some of the stuff they put on your computer, they
will ruin your connection.

Re: INTERNET NOT RECOGNIZING MODEM, MODEM DISABLED
Do you have good AV software, updated regularly? If not, get some ASAP.
Did you try to set up a new network connection using your modem as I
suggested?
