Default Internet Gateway

Suddenly I have a new group in my network folder called
Internet Gateway. Anytime I connect to my network I get
a new network icon in the tray, in addition to the
connection icon, for this new gateway connection. There
is an option to disable it but clicking that option has
no effect. What is this and why can't I get rid of it?
