Default internet explorer stalls

(WinXP Pro) After Connecting to the internet i open the
internet explorer and it for a lttle while nothing
happens at all. The rest of the system is fine. It's just
internet explorer that is stalled.
What is causing this?
thanks

Is IE just opening up a blank page or is just waiting to load and it never does? Maybe you have a site hijacker on your PC. Try using a different browser such as netscape or firefox. If your able to get on then you need to do some searching in your pc .

The next thing I would try is going to msconfig and stop everything from starting up. and then try using IE again. or try restoring IE to its default settings.
