hyperterminal hangs in windows XP pro

Anyone had hyperterminal hang in XP Pro as I have? I see
that Microsoft has ****ions/patches for a similar looking
problem in earlier version of Windows, but not for XP.
I've already tried the usual tactdics, i.e. faster/slower
transfer sppeds, different protocols. Nothing seems to
work. Any suggestions?
