I've just bought a new PC with XP Home on it. I didn't
realise that it didn't come with a personal web server
(as Win 98 did) and apparently I have to get XP Pro. How
do I do it? How much will it cost? What software do I
need, etc?
You need to buy the WinXP Pro upgrade CD - I think it's usually under $200.
I don't use XP Home so I don't know about IIS in it....but there are other
webservers you can probably use if you wish. If you're planning on hosting a
publicly-accessible website on your home computer, though, I advise against
it.
