Default hotfix 828940 wireless constantly dropped

I have a dlink dwl-g630 pccard connected to the
compatable router and a desktop with airplus g as well.
The desktop stays connected fine both laptop and desktop
have xp pro. My laptop on the other hand stays connected
for about the first 10 minutes then drops the connection.
Dlink said I needed hotfix 828940 and I didnt want to
wait on the phone for an hour to get it so I downloaded
the equal patch from autopatcher.com. Well that didnt
sovle the problem it still happens and Im getting more
and mroe p.o.'ed
Here are some system event logs

The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_
{E6360CE1-1D79-4329-82E5-EDA4048F49F4} was disconnected
from the network, and the adapter's network configuration
has been released. If the network adapter was not
disconnected, this may indicate that it has
malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated
drivers.

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the
network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with
network address 000F3D035D21. The following error
occurred:
The operation was canceled by the user. . Your computer
will continue to try and obtain an address on its own
from the network address (DHCP) server.
