Home Networking

I am having a problem with sharing files on my home
network. i can access the files on the client from the
host, but i cant access the files on the host from the
client. when i try to add a network place there are no
subfolders to select under the host. i have made the
files so that i can share them but it still doesnt work!
CAN ANYBODY HELP!
