Default HELP, Trouble connecting laptop to Macintosh Airport Router!!!!

I'm trying to connect to the Airport router in my
girlfriends house with my laptop, however there seems to
be a problem. My Laptop can detect the Airport hub, and
shows that it is connected. However I am unable to
actually use the network to connect to the internet. Any
suggestions.

A complete walkthrough would be helpfull. Not sure exactly
where the problem is, so if you could give me a detailed
walk though of what i need to do from start to finish that
would be good.

-I'm running Windows XP professional on my laptop, with an
802.11g/b internal adapter.

When connected to the wireless AP, check if you received
an ip address from the AP:
Start/run type CMD and hit enter
type ipconfig /all in this command window.
If you see an ip address 169.xxx.xxx.xxx for your
wireless adapter, then you have no connection to the AP.
Let us know what you find
